Global Educational Qualifications: Benefits for Schools and Scholars

Student mobility and international recognition are important issues for theology students, theological providers and accrediting agencies.  Prompted by a specific case of a student from Ethiopia who graduated with an ACTEA accredited qualification and was refused recognition when applying to a North American institution,  a meeting was convened by ICETE to discuss the broader issues involved.  Representatives met in January 2024 from ICETE accreditation agencies and institutions in Ethiopia, Kenya, Germany, Italy, the Caribbean together with a delegation from the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) in North America  to explore ways to provide understanding of global educational qualifications that may not appear in directories such as the World Education Services (WES).  Key issues and possible ways forward were identified within a conversation that will certainly be continued.
