CBTE/MC Consultation II

The ICETE is inviting key stakeholders and leaders from formal and non-formal providers of theological training, accreditation agencies and church and para-church networks to come together to discuss how competency-based theological education (CBTE) and micro-credentials (MC), might shape the future of Christian training and contribute to bridging the formal/non-formal gap in theological training.

This is a small, invitation only strategic consultation for about 60 leaders from Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, the MENA region and North America.

The problem this consultation aims to solve is that, as there are new forms of TE (CBTE and MCs) appearing on the horizon, there is no a shared global understanding of what these are nor may they even be recognisable in the broader landscape of the broader stakeholder community (e.g. churches and para-church organisations as future employers of graduates from these new kinds of programmes).  ICETE can help here. That is why we are inviting a broad spectrum of stakeholders from each region and not just the accreditation bodies.  We want to generate a dialogue that will lead to understanding, further shaping and recognisability of these new approaches to TE that are owned by educators and employers alike.

This consultation follows the first Competency-Based and Micro-Credential Consultation, hosted by ICETE in September 2023. For more information about this event and to inquire about participation, please contact Dr. Marvin Oxenham.
